Quinsy (peritonsillar abscess) is a complication of tonsillitis. It is a collection of pus that develops between the back of one of your tonsils and the wall of your throat (an abscess).
Causes of quinsy
Quinsy, also known as peritonsillar abscess, is caused by an infection. It is thought that the abscess can form if tonsilitis is left untreated.
Treating quinsy
Quinsy (peritonsillar abscess) is usually treated with a combination of medication and surgery, including antibiotics and tonsillectomy.
