Introduction
Nosebleeds can be frightening. However, they are fairly common, particularly in children, and can often be treated at home.
Symptoms of a nosebleed
During a nosebleed, blood will flow from one nostril, or sometimes both nostrils. It may last anywhere from a few seconds to more than 10 minutes.
Causes of a nosebleed
Nosebleeds can have a number of different causes including a minor nose injury, picking your nose, blowing your nose too hard or another health condition.
Treating a nosebleed
Most nosebleeds can be stopped without the need for medical attention. However, if you have nosebleeds that are very heavy or reoccur, treatment may be required.
