Symptoms of goitre
The main symptom of a goitre is swelling of the thyroid gland (a gland in the neck that produces hormones) which causes a lump to develop in the throat.

If you have a goitre, your GP will carry out a physical examination of your neck, and may run a blood tests to check your thyroid gland function.
