On Wednesday 17th June Choices & Rights Disability Coalition will be hosting an Open Day at the Hull Training Information Centre, The BBC Centre, Queen’s Court, Queen’s Gardens, Hull.
From 10am to 3:30pm Choices & Rights staff will be available to advise disabled people, their friends, relatives and carers on all aspects of the Disability provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
It is twenty years since the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) came into force and it is five years since the DDA became part of the Equality Act 2010. The aims of this event are to –
- Boost the publicity of the Equality Act and the protections it gives to disabled people and those associated with disabled people.
- Publicise Choices & Rights role in advising, assisting and enabling disabled people to use the Equality Act when faced with disability discrimination.
- Assess, if possible via a radio phone-in on Radio Humberside, whether disabled people in Hull & the East Riding of Yorkshire feel the legislation has made a positive change to their lives and how they feel things have changed for them under the current government’s policies.
